Definitely, a mod to recommend for those looking to get a better response in performance. If anyone is still in doubt, I hope this clarifies some questions or concerns you might have. So coming from a somewhat new OEM revised driveshaft to the CF shaft I still noticed a tremendous improvement in the performance of my car. You can see that my current OEM driveshaft is still very new like. It was replaced by BMW due to a failure at 31k miles. Previous to getting the Carbon Driveshaft, I had one that was very new. Its never going to be smooth like a traditional automatic (I personally don't like that, it's boring). One thing I did notice is that the downshifts are more evident but that is honestly the nature of a DCT transmission. Took it for a spin on the highway and I did not notice anything different aside from the improvement when getting on the gas. No added noise, the powertrain doesn't feel any rougher either. Throughout the RPM ranges the car feels more alive and responsive to my throttle input, especially noticeable when you reach roughly 3000-4000rpm. The throttle input feels like as if you increased throttle sensitivity by 50%. With the carbon driveshaft that "delay" is virtually gone. I found myself constantly noticing some kind of delay when downshifting and trying to send it. The input to the rear wheels is something you have to experience for yourself, I personally always felt there was something wrong with the way the rear end delivered power to the wheels. Long story short, this is how the car should have came from the start! It had me concerned but I decided to get one anyway.

There has been a lot of talk on the forums saying how it might add NVH. The opportunity came up and decided to pull the trigger. So I've been eyeballing a DCT carbon driveshaft for a very long time.įriends previously not driving BMWs recommended it on their JDM car and mentioned the various performance gains they noticed, got me interested. DCT does have different internal gearing vs the 6MT.JFiber E92 M3 DCT Carbon Driveshaft - Review That's transmission gearing, I was referring to the final drive (diff) ratio. " rel="" target="_blank"> rel="" target="_blank"> Apparently the gearing is the same per this document except for second. Interesting.never thought it would be exactly the same.

So the GS6-53BZ is the MT for the M3, and per your factory docs the GS7D36SG code is the same for the GTS as the regular M3 only w/ 1 liter less oil.

Its gear shift characteristics have been tuned to suit the characteristics of the modified engine in the BMW M3 GTS." Being a dual clutch type, the gear shifts are truly seamless and even when Drivelogic is put to max it remains relatively smooth although you will notice the increase in shift aggressiveness.

As the power lift is modest there was no need to upgrade the box. "BMW uses the M Dual Clutch Drivelogic gearbox developed for the BMW M3 to transmit the higher power output. It shows the GTS at 3.056 versus ours is I think: 2.933.the rest is the same - even the final. What a great improvement to an already amazing car.Īpparently the gearing is the same per this document except for second. 200kg less, and it appears that the GTS also may have a longer final drive ratio. A seven-speed automatic is optional for all models.

A six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard. Engine wise the bore is the same, but the stroke is 7.2mm more bringing displacement from 3999cm/3 to 4361cm/3 (S65B44M0 vs S65B40O0). Every used car for sale comes with a free CARFAX Report. For the standard M3 it lists the transmission as the GS6-53BZ or the GS7D36SG w/ 1 liter less oil than the GTS variant. The transmission is the M DKG Drivelogic GS7D36SG according to the factory docs I have. Not sure if this includes a modification of hardware from the standard DCT, or just the addition of more fluid. The M3 GTS is filled with one liter more oil from the factory.
